Good to know
Questions, answered
Why won't my HEIC file open on Windows?
HEIC has been Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. Windows and Android don't read it without extra software, so converting to JPG makes the photo work everywhere.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored.
Does converting lose quality?
There's a small loss because JPG compresses differently, but at the quality used here it isn't visible in normal viewing.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG, WebP or AVIF instead?
Yes. Pick the format from the Output settings. JPG opens everywhere, PNG is lossless, WebP makes smaller files for websites, and AVIF is smaller still where your browser supports creating it.
Can I convert several at once?
Yes. Drop as many as you like and download them together as a ZIP.
