Flip or mirror an image

Horizontal swaps left and right, like looking in a mirror. Vertical swaps top and bottom, like a reflection in still water. Turn both on and you get the same result as a 180° rotation. The image keeps its exact width and height, and every pixel is moved to its mirrored position rather than redrawn, so nothing is blurred or stretched.

Selfies are the usual reason to flip. The front camera shows you a mirrored preview, because that's the face you know from the mirror, but phones differ in what they save. If a sign or T-shirt slogan reads backwards in the saved photo, the phone kept the mirror view: flip it horizontally and the text reads normally. If the text is fine but your face looks slightly off, that's simply how other people see you.

The catch is that a horizontal flip reverses everything in the picture, not only the part you were thinking about. Text, logos, number plates, watch faces and a side parting all come out backwards, which is easy to miss until someone else points it out. For a photo with visible writing, check the preview before you save, or crop the writing out first.

Flip a whole batch at once and download them together as a ZIP. With Auto, JPG, WebP and AVIF files keep their format, HEIC photos are saved as JPG and anything else becomes a lossless PNG. Lossy formats are saved again at the quality you set, 92 by default, so choose PNG if you want no further compression at all.
