How did this tool do?

Cropping a photo into a circle or another shape

A circle crop is a square crop with the corners made transparent. That is why the box over your photo always stays square: drag it so the face sits in the middle, resize it from a corner, and the circle is drawn inside it. Everything outside the shape becomes transparent, so the result sits cleanly on a white page, a dark app or a coloured slide without a box around it.

Eight shapes share the same box: circle, rounded square (with a corner slider), square, heart, star, hexagon, triangle and a soft blob. The border is drawn on the inside of the outline, so it never grows the image or gets clipped at the edge, and the drop shadow adds a little transparent margin so it has room to fall.

For profile pictures, 512 px is plenty: most sites show avatars at 40 to 200 px and scale yours down. Pick 1024 px for a team page or print, or Original to keep every pixel of the area you framed. Download as PNG for the widest support or WebP for a smaller file; both keep the transparency, which JPG can't.

Why is the outside transparent and not white?

So the circle sits cleanly on any background, from a dark website to a coloured slide. PNG and WebP keep that transparency; JPG can't, which is why it isn't offered here.

What size should a profile picture be?

512 px is plenty for most profile photos and avatars. Pick 1024 px for print or a team page, or Original to keep every pixel of the area you framed.

Can I crop several photos the same way?

Yes. Drop them together; each gets its own box, centred until you move it, and they all share the shape and settings.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
