Signing a PDF without sending it anywhere

Most online signing sites ask you to upload the document first, which means a contract, a rental agreement or an HR form sits on someone else's server. Here the PDF is opened in your browser and the signature is added on your device. The file you download is your original with your signature on it, and nothing is uploaded at any point.

Only your signature is added. The page itself isn't printed to an image and rebuilt, so the text stays sharp, selectable and searchable, links keep working, and the file stays about the size it was. Pages that are rotated or cropped are handled too, so the signature lands exactly where you put it.

There are three ways to make the signature. Type your name and pick one of eight handwriting styles. Draw it with a mouse, a finger on a phone or a stylus. Or upload a photo of your real signature on white paper: the paper is removed and only the ink is kept, even with a shadow across it. If you made a signature in the signature generator, Sign a document brings it straight here.

Place as many signatures as the document needs, initials on every page included, and add today's date beside them. Drag to move, drag the corner to resize, and use the arrow keys to nudge. A photo or a scan of a paper document works too, and is saved as an image with the signature on it.

Questions, answered

Is my document uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and signed in your browser, so contracts and forms never leave your device. You can check in your browser's network panel, or sign with your Wi-Fi off once the page has loaded.

Does signing change the rest of the PDF?

No. Your signature is added on top of the page as an image. The text stays selectable and searchable, and nothing else on the page is redrawn or compressed.

Is this a legally binding signature?

It's an image of your signature, the same as signing a printout and scanning it. That's accepted for many everyday agreements and forms, but it isn't a certified digital signature with an identity check. For contracts that need one, use the service the other party asks for.

Can I use my real signature?

Yes. Choose Upload and pick a photo of your signature on white paper; the paper is removed and only the ink is kept. A transparent PNG made earlier is used as it is.

Can I sign more than one page?

Yes. Add as many signatures, initials and dates as you need, on any page. Each one can be moved, resized or removed before you download.
