Sharpen an image
To sharpen a soft photo, drop it here and raise Sharpen. Reduce noise smooths grain from night shots, and nothing is uploaded.
Tap “Show original” on the preview to compare. Push Sharpen too far and edges grow bright halos; for grainy night shots, raise Reduce noise first and sharpen less.
How did this tool do?
How sharpening and noise reduction work
Sharpening doesn't add detail; it adds contrast along edges. The tool blurs a copy of the photo, takes the difference from the original (which is where the edges are), and adds that difference back, scaled by the Sharpen amount. This is the classic unsharp mask, the same idea behind the sharpen slider in photo editors.
Noise is the grain in night shots and indoor phone photos. Reduce noise smooths each pixel towards its neighbourhood, but only where the two are already close: flat walls and skies get smoother, while real edges, where the difference is large, are left alone. It runs before sharpening, because grain that gets sharpened first only becomes louder.
Both settings scale with the image, so the live preview and the full-size download look the same. Start around 50 to 100% sharpen; if bright outlines appear along edges, you've gone too far. A photo that is badly out of focus can only be improved a little this way. For a small image that looks soft because it's tiny, the AI upscaler rebuilds detail instead.

Sharpening photos, answered
Can it fix a really blurry photo?
It makes soft photos crisper, but it can't invent detail a badly out-of-focus or shaken photo never captured. For small images that look blurry because they're tiny, the AI upscaler rebuilds detail instead.
Why do edges get bright outlines?
That's oversharpening. Lower the Sharpen amount until the halo disappears; around 50–100% suits most photos.
Should I sharpen or reduce noise first?
Both happen in one pass, noise first. Grain sharpened first only gets louder, which is why the order is fixed.
