Photo filters

There are ten looks. Mono is a straight black and white, with each colour turned into the grey that matches how bright it looks to the eye. Noir is black and white with much stronger contrast and slightly darker tones, for a moodier result. Sepia gives the brown tint of old prints, and Vintage is a gentler version: a partial sepia with softer contrast, muted colour and lifted blacks.

Warm pushes the colours towards orange and Cool towards blue, each with a small colour boost. Vivid raises saturation and contrast for bold, punchy colour, and Chrome does something similar with a slightly cool tint. Fade goes the other way, lowering contrast, muting the colour and lifting the darkest tones for a soft, matte look. Invert turns the image into its negative.

Every look is a colour change only. The size and sharpness of the photo stay as they were, and nothing is blurred, cropped or given a border. The small tiles show each look on the photo you're previewing, which is quicker than trying them one by one. The Strength slider blends the look with the original, so Sepia at 40% gives a faint warm tone instead of a full brown.

Because the same look and strength go on every image, filters are an easy way to make a set of photos from different phones or lighting feel like they belong together. A scanned black and white negative becomes a normal print with Invert. Colour negatives have an orange base, so they'll still need a warmth and colour fix in the Brightness tool afterwards.
