Why does my photo look grainy as a GIF?
GIF stores at most 256 colours per frame, so photographs get banding in skies and skin tones. That is the format, not the encoder — every GIF maker has the same limit. For photographic motion, an MP4 or animated WebP looks far better at a fraction of the size.
How many images can I use?
Up to 60 frames. Beyond that a GIF becomes very large and awkward to share, and a video file is the better tool.
Why is my GIF so big?
Every frame is stored almost in full, so file size grows with frame count and dimensions. Drop the width to 480px, use fewer colours, or use fewer frames.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The frames are decoded and the GIF is encoded in your browser, so the images never leave your device.
