ImgKit

Free image compressor, resizer and converter that runs in your browser

Compress, resize and convert images in the browser tab. Background removal, face blur and upscaling run on your device too, so the photo isn't uploaded anywhere.

Which side is
77% smaller?

Drag the handle. One half is 77% lighter than the other, and it was compressed right here in a browser tab — see if you can find the seam.

How it handles hair

Most background removers turn loose strands into mush. Drag the handle and look along the edge of the hair: this is the model's raw output on this photo, with no touch-ups, produced on the device you're reading this on.

  • Transparent PNG or WebP, ready to drop onto any background
  • The photo never leaves your browser — no upload, no account
  • 26 MB model, downloaded once and then reused from the browser cache

What it does

No sign-up flow, no watermark, no upsell at the end. Drop a file in, get a file back, close the tab.

No upload to wait for

Your device does the work, so a large photo doesn't have to travel to a server and back.

AI on your device

Background removal, face blur and upscaling run on your device — not on someone's server.

Smaller files

JPEG, PNG and AVIF go through mozjpeg, oxipng and an AVIF encoder compiled to WebAssembly.

No account

No account, no watermark, no daily limit. Drop a file in, take it back, close the tab.

02

Tune the output

Set the quality with one slider. See the real savings live.

03

Download

Save the result. The image is processed in the tab and isn't uploaded.

Formats

iPhone HEIC photos come out as JPG that opens anywhere. PNG, WebP and AVIF convert in either direction, and nothing gets a watermark.

It works with the wifi off

The tools run inside the tab you already have open, so pulling the network doesn't stop them. There's no upload endpoint, no storage bucket and no account to create. Close the tab and the files are gone.

That matters most for the photos you'd think twice about uploading. Blur every face in a picture, cut a person out of a background, or read the text off an ID — the models download once and then run here, on your device. Most tools that do this send the photo to a server first.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. ImgKit runs entirely in your browser. Your files are processed locally and never leave your device.

Does ImgKit work offline?

Yes. After your first visit, the site loads and the tools keep working with no internet connection, even if you refresh the page. You can also install it as an app from the browser. The AI tools need their model downloaded once while you're online, and after that they work offline too.

Can I use it for client photos or confidential images?

Yes. The image is opened and processed inside your browser tab and is never sent to a server, so no one else, including ImgKit, receives or stores it. That makes it suitable for client work under NDA, ID documents and other private photos. The privacy page lists every request the site makes, so you can check this yourself.

Which image formats are supported?

You can optimize JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images, plus HEIC photos from iPhone. JPG and HEIC export as JPG; PNG, WebP and AVIF export as WebP, which keeps transparency.

Does the AI run on my device too?

Yes. Background removal, face blur, upscaling and text recognition all run in your browser. The model file downloads once and is then reused offline — the image itself is never sent anywhere, which is the whole point for a photo of someone's face or an ID.

Is ImgKit really free?

Yes. The core optimizer is free to use with no account and no watermark, for files up to 50 MB.

Will compression reduce image quality?

ImgKit balances size and quality for you. Fine-tune the quality slider and check the preview before downloading. If an image is already as small as it gets, you'll get the original back.
